“Memoirs of a Reluctant Servant”
The children who appear on the cover of the book are all on-site residents of Liberia Mission Incorporated. I could only round up a small group of them. Some had been cleaning St. Anthony of Padua School, where the picture was taken, some had been coming out of St. Michael the Archangel Church and others had been engaged in a spirited kick-ball game in front of the school. I took 15 pictures that day, each having a personality of its own. Just before I took the first picture Edwin Kollie, who is the young man holding the flag in the middle said, “Bring us your flag Uncle Jerome.” It made all the difference. I decided right there if “Memoirs of a Reluctant Servant” ever became a reality one of the pictures was going to be used as the cover.
This is picture # 3 of the 15. It is our “Iwo Jima” shot.
