Easter Sunday is the Day of the New Rising Son
While the world continues to explore and improvise new ways to destroy itself and while we as a human race let politics, religion and selfishness tear us apart to the point of no return we are reminded every Good Friday and Easter that hope still exists and hope calls each of us to renewal, rebirth and eternal life. The greatest lesson I was ever taught about the true meaning of Easter was in Liberia, Africa in 2009 when a young boy named Marcus smiled and told me, “Uncle Jerome Gee-suhs rose from the dead to prove to those who believe in Him can be victorious!” I thanked God at that moment that a 10 year old boy was able to sum up the Easter message for me in one sentence than all the homilies, sermons or discussions I had heard about Easter the previous 42 years of my life.
So what does Easter mean to you? Is it a rebirth, a new beginning or a victory? For me it signifies all that is Holy and drives home the point Jesus Christ was the unblemished Lamb of God, the first born from the dead. It makes me realize that no matter how man bombs and bullets fall like rain, no matter how many die in God’s name, no matter how many people are torn apart by temporal and quickly fading philosophies or political pundits that we have won the victory. The victory of life over death, love over hate and peace over war is already ours.
Whatever Easter means to you my hope and prayer is that you and your loved ones enjoy the peace that passes all understanding this weekend and that you rest a little easier knowing that Gee-suhs rose from the dead to give us the victory! Please remember the beautiful children of Liberia Mission Incorporated in your prayers and please visit http://www.franciscanworks.com to learn more about them. As always please consider purchasing copies of my book, “Memoirs of a Reluctant Servant” as it truly helps to keep our mission children fed, educated and clothed and if you are on FACEBOOK please visit us and “LIKE” our page for “Memoirs of a Reluctant Servant.”
Blessings and Peace to you and your loved ones.
